Pyramid Model developed by The Center on the Social and Emotional Foundations for Early Learning

Project STEP serves the local community by providing technical assistance to Head Start centers via professional development training, individual coaching and modeling sessions with teachers, performance feedback, and data-based decision making. Technical assistance is provided within the framework of program-wide positive behavior supports. We operate from the Pyramid Model developed by The Center on the Social and Emotional Foundations for Early Learning (CSEFEL).

 

Specific areas of technical assistance include:

 

  • Universal supports

    Children with building blocks

    • Building nurturing and positive relationships with children

    • Designing high quality learning environments

    • Developing clear expectations

    • Implementing innovative and effective lessons for teaching expectations

    • Designing and implementing class-wide and center-wide systems for acknowledging appropriate behavior

    • Data-based decision making

 

  • Tier Two supports

    • Implementing targeted behavioral interventions with fidelity

    • Implementing innovative and effective lessons to promote social skills

    • Data-based decision making

 

  • Tier Three supports

    • Functional behavior assessment

    • Trial-based functional analysis

    • Individualized function-based preventative interventions for chronic challenging behavior

    • Data-based decision making
